Cookie policy

This Cookie Policy explains how The Divergent Leader (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal data.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device when you visit a website. They help websites operate, remember choices, understand usage, and measure whether forms or other actions have been completed.

Similar technologies include pixels, tags, scripts, local storage, software development kits, and identifiers stored in or read from your browser.

Cookies may be:

  • Session cookies: removed when you close your browser
  • Persistent cookies: retained until they expire or you delete them
  • First-party cookies: set by The Divergent Leader website
  • Third-party cookies: set by a service used on the website

2. How we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep the website working properly and securely
  • Operate forms and remember cookie choices
  • Understand how people find and use our pages
  • Improve content, navigation, accessibility, and website performance
  • Measure actions such as form submissions, resource requests, and subscriptions
  • Diagnose technical problems and prevent misuse
  • Support marketing measurement where enabled and permitted

We do not use cookies to infer anyone’s diagnosis, disability, condition, or neurotype.

3. Cookie categories

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for core website functions, security, consent management, and form operation. They cannot normally be disabled through our cookie banner because the website may not work correctly without them.

3.2 Analytics and performance cookies

These cookies help us understand website traffic and how visitors use pages. They may measure page views, clicks, scrolling, downloads, errors, referral sources, form journeys, and technical performance.

Where consent is required, these cookies remain disabled unless you accept them.

3.3 Functionality cookies

These cookies remember choices or settings that improve how the website works for you, such as consent or interface preferences.

Where required, we ask for permission before setting non-essential functionality cookies.

3.4 Marketing and targeting cookies

These cookies may measure campaigns, connect website activity with marketing systems, or help provide more relevant communications or advertising.

The Divergent Leader does not currently need marketing cookies merely to respond to an enquiry, review a podcast guest application, receive Marketplace research, or deliver a requested service message. Where marketing cookies are used, they should remain disabled until the required consent is given.

4. Your cookie choices

When you first visit the website, you may be shown a cookie banner that lets you:

  • Accept non-essential cookies
  • Reject non-essential cookies
  • Choose categories where granular controls are available
  • Continue with strictly necessary cookies only

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before you changed your choice. It may not remove cookies already stored on your device, so you may also need to delete them through your browser settings.

Rejecting non-essential cookies should not prevent you from reading the website or submitting an essential enquiry form.

5. Tools used on this website

5.1 HubSpot

The website uses HubSpot for website hosting, forms, CRM-connected journeys, email subscriptions, consent records, and reporting.

HubSpot may use strictly necessary cookies to operate consent choices and forms. Subject to your choices and configuration, it may also use analytics or functionality cookies to recognize a browser, connect form submissions with earlier website activity, and measure journeys across visits.

Submitting a form does not automatically give consent to unrelated marketing. Any optional marketing choice should be separate from the service, application, or research submission.

5.2 Google Analytics 4

Where enabled and accepted, Google Analytics 4 helps us understand website traffic and usage. It may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions, approximate location, device and browser details, referral source, and technical identifiers.

We use this information to improve the website and understand aggregate patterns. Google Analytics should not load before consent where consent is required.

5.3 Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager helps us deploy and manage website tags. It does not itself determine what data is collected or normally set analytics cookies on its own. The services loaded through it, such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity, may use cookies and similar technologies.

The tags configured through Google Tag Manager must follow your cookie choices.

5.4 Microsoft Clarity

Where enabled and accepted, Microsoft Clarity helps us understand how visitors use the website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay.

Clarity may record interactions such as clicks, scrolling, navigation, and page layout. It should be configured to mask form fields and sensitive content. We do not intentionally use session replay to capture information entered into forms or to infer a diagnosis, disability, condition, or neurotype.

6. Embedded content and third-party services

Pages may include embedded podcast players, videos, forms, social content, scheduling tools, payment links, or resource-delivery services.

When you load or interact with embedded content, the provider may receive your IP address, device information, page information, and interaction data. It may also set cookies under its own policy.

Where practical and required, non-essential embedded content should remain blocked until you provide the relevant consent. Links that take you to another website are governed by that website’s cookie and privacy policies.

7. Indicative cookie register

The table below records cookies commonly associated with the confirmed toolset. Cookie names, purposes, categories, and durations can change with configuration or provider updates. Replace this indicative register with the results of a live scan before publication.

Cookie or identifier Provider Category Purpose Typical duration
__hs_cookie_cat_pref HubSpot Strictly necessary or functionality Remembers the cookie categories selected through HubSpot’s consent banner. Up to 6 months
hubspotutk HubSpot Analytics Associates website activity and form submissions with the same visitor where permitted. Up to 6 months
__hstc HubSpot Analytics Supports visitor and website-usage reporting across visits where permitted. Up to 6 months
__hssc HubSpot Analytics Tracks sessions for HubSpot reporting where permitted. About 30 minutes
__hssrc HubSpot Analytics Helps determine whether a visitor has restarted their browser. Session
_ga Google Analytics Analytics Distinguishes browsers for analytics reporting where permitted. Up to 2 years

_clck Microsoft Clarity Analytics Retains a browser identifier and Clarity preferences across visits where permitted. Up to 1 year
_clsk Microsoft Clarity Analytics Connects page views into a single Clarity session where permitted. Up to 1 day

Additional cookies may be set by HubSpot infrastructure, Google, Microsoft domains, security services, or embedded media. The live cookie scan and consent platform should remain the authoritative implementation record.

8. Managing cookies through your browser

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser. The steps vary by browser and version. Common locations include:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Blocking all cookies may affect forms, consent preferences, embedded media, and other website functions.

9. Global Privacy Control and browser signals

Some browsers or extensions send privacy preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track.

We will respond to legally recognized signals where required and where the website’s consent and tag-management configuration supports them. You can still use the on-site cookie controls to state your preference directly.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when our website, providers, cookie configuration, or legal obligations change. The latest version will appear on this page with an updated date.

Because providers can change their cookies, we will review the cookie register periodically and after material changes to the website or tracking setup.
